Biography
Dr. Tanya Ruetzler has a diverse work and teaching background. Her professional experience in the hospitality industry includes restaurant management in causal theme, independent, and casino food and beverage operations. She also is experienced in hotel catering and group sales and airline customer service. Dr. Ruetzler teaches a diversity of hospitality subjects including food and beverage operations, beverage management, food safety, hospitality law, convention and destination management, and tourism. She completed her doctoral studies with a focus in Foodservice Systems at the University of Southern Mississippi, her Master’s degree in Hotel
Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and her undergraduate degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida. Building upon a nutrition and hospitality management background, her earlier research focused on cross-cultural perceptions of foodservice operations. She since then has published research in hospitality human resources as well as wine and beer marketing and purchasing behavior. Currently she is conducting research in tourism and its impacts on host countries and their residents.
