Office of the President
In 1962, A. O. Sullivan and his son, A. R. Sullivan, recognized the need for an institution of higher education devoted to the highest ideals and standards in preparing people for successful careers. They founded Sullivan Business College, a one-year school of business, to meet that need. Since its founding, Sullivan Business College has become Sullivan University and the institution has grown to serve thousands of students while also expanding its offerings to Certificates through PhDs and PharmDs. As the university celebrates sixty years in higher education, it has also seen several Presidents. Dr. Tim Swenson is the 6th President of Sullivan University.
Dr. Swenson is an educator with over 35 years of higher education experience. Before becoming a member of the Sullivan University family, Dr. Swenson was an auditor at a fortune 500 and taught at two Universities. Letter from the President:
You make a difference.
You are an integral part of our community. What you do with your time and talents immeasurably impacts the world around you. There is no doubt that a well-educated, skilled workforce has a profound impact on our local, State, regional and national prosperity. We are ready to partner with you to have that impact.
Our university is a diverse learning community with a long history of preparing students for successful careers. Careers that befit not only themselves, but the communities around them. We stand ready to be your partner on this journey.
We have one focus. A well-educated, skilled workforce. That focus enables you to make the difference only you can. Whether it be in the fields of nursing, allied health, pharmacy, culinary arts, business, or information technology, our region’s overall growth depends on its workforce – It depends on you.
We know an education should be powerful. It should equally be useful. A Sullivan University education should enable you to gain practical and theoretical insights into your career field, your future.
We believe in our students, and we are invested in their success. I invite you to become a partner in this great future.
Dr. Tim Swenson, President
