Continuing Education for KY Board of Pharmacy Approved Protocols
PHARMACY TECHNICIAN IMMUNIZATION ADMINISTRATION TRAINING
This 3-hour CE meets the training requirements of the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, allowing pharmacy technicians to administer immunizations to individuals ages 3 years and older. This training includes a 2-hour CE self-paced learning module and a 1-hour CE hands-on injection technique check-off that can be assessed by any immunization certified pharmacist. Registrants must provide the name and contact information of the immunization certified pharmacist who will perform the technique check-off. The pharmacist will be contacted with instructions for check-off completion within 1 week of registration.
Completion of both the 2-hour CE self-paced module and the 1-hour CE technique check-off meets the HHS Guidance for a practical training program approved by ACPE for technician immunization administration. Please check individual state requirements for definition of a qualified pharmacy technician.
This program is recognized as fulfilling the education requirements for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Immunization Administration Assessment-Based Certificate Program.

- Trainee is responsible for completing technique check-off with immunization certified pharmacist.
- Trainee must provide the name, email, and phone number of the immunization certified pharmacist who will verify the Injection Technique Check-Off at the time of Registration.
- You will need access to the following supplies to perform the Injection Technique Check-Off: Normal saline, alcohol swabs, syringes with 1 – 1 ½ in needle, syringes with 5/8 in needle, sharps container, bandages, cotton balls.

PHARMACIST’S INTRODUCTION TO KY BOARD-APPROVED PROTOCOLS
This FREE 1-hour interactive home-study module was designed to equip pharmacists to provide expanded services under a board-authorized protocol. This module reviews available board-authorized protocols currently approved by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy and addresses implementation and planning considerations when adding a service in a pharmacy. This module will guide the learner through the necessary documentation, education and forms that are required per the protocol regulation. Best practices in creating a business plan and workflow integration will be shared. Finally, the learner will briefly examine differential diagnosis and tips for creating an effective patient encounter. Register here!
PHARMACIST’S ESSENTIALS OF THE KY BOARD-AUTHORIZED ALLERGIC RHINITIS PROTOCOL
As a result of regulation 201 KAR 2:380, pharmacists in Kentucky can now initiate the dispensing of non-controlled medications and other professional services via a prescriber-approved board-authorized protocol. In an effort to transform and advance pharmacy within our state, this training specifies the criteria and procedures for pharmacist(s) to initiate the dispensing of medications for symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis under the Kentucky Board Approved Protocol for Pharmacist Dispensing of Allergic Rhinitis Therapies.
