How to transfer your college credit
At Sullivan, we want to make transferring as easy as possible. Our flexible credit transfer policy means you’ll spend less time retaking classes and more time focusing on graduating. Plus, we’ll review your transcripts for free, so you’ll know exactly how many of your previous credits will transfer. Reach out to our Admissions team for more information and scholarship details today.
Transferring to Sullivan
We’ll accept credit transfer for courses that match Sullivan’s offerings and where you earned a grade of “D” or better for undergraduate programs and a grade of “C” or better for graduate programs.* The Registrar will decide which credits apply to your program.
To transfer credits, you’ll need to provide the Office of the Registrar with official transcripts and, if needed, academic policy statements from your previous schools. Courses from five or more years ago may be reviewed and potentially not accepted, with stricter limits on practical or clinical work.
* Some exclusions apply. Contact the Registrar for more information.
Where to send transcripts
Official transcripts should be mailed or sent electronically to the Registrar by the records office of the issuing institution(s).

Prior Learning Assessment
A Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) allows you to earn college credits for learning gained outside the traditional classroom, including workplace experience, exams, and portfolio assessments. See how your real-world learning can count toward your degree.
Military credit
Sullivan University reviews military transcripts to determine if you can receive credit transfer. To qualify, the courses must be similar to those in our undergraduate programs. We use the American Council on Education’s (ACE) Guide to evaluate military coursework. Acceptable documentation includes the Joint Services Transcript (JST) and the CCAF (Community College of the Air Force) Transcript.
StraighterLine® course credit
Sullivan University will award credit for StraighterLine courses if you earn a grade of “C” or better and the course is listed in our articulation agreement. We base credit on recommendations from the American Council on Education. Only StraighterLine courses with ACE credit recommendations and articulation are eligible for transfer. These credits are recorded as transfer credits on your transcript but do not affect your GPA.
Transferring from Sullivan
If you choose to finish your education at another institution, Enrollment Services can help with the transfer process. While Sullivan is regionally accredited, we can’t guarantee that credits will transfer to another institution, as the receiving school makes the final decision.
