Dr. Malcom is an Associate Professor and Vice-Chair of the Department of Clinical and Administrative Sciences. Through his faculty role, Dr. Malcom also maintains a practice site in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Baptist Health Louisville, where he takes students on advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs). Dr Malcom obtained his doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy in 2008, then completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and a PGY-2 Specialty Residency in Critical Care at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN (affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy).


Dr. Malcom’s research interests include lethal injection, understanding the impact of the co-curriculum, evaluating student professionalism and ethics, and delirium in the ICU. His research has been accepted for oral presentations and poster presentations at regional and international meetings including the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting, the International Conference of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) Annual Congress, and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Annual Meeting. Dr. Malcom was also recognized as an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Teacher of the Year in 2013, Kentucky Society of Health System Pharmacists (KSHP) Mentor of the Year in 2017, and as an Emerging Teaching Scholar by AACP in 2019.


Dr. Malcom also maintains active memberships in several professional pharmacy organizations and has served as an item-writer for the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX). Additionally, he is an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (AJPE), the official journal of AACP.
