Biography

Dr. Dan McCune holds a B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from Butler University in Indianapolis and was awarded his Ph.D. in Pharmacology by the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Additionally, Dr. McCune completed postdoctoral research studies in the Department of Molecular Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. McCune is a member of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society.

In the laboratory Dr. McCune primarily works with human arterial smooth muscle cells as a model system in order to study the differential signal transduction and effects of the three main subtypes of the alpha1-adrenergic receptor.

Dr. McCune has taught pharmacology and medicinal chemistry for a variety of topics including; Neuropharmacology, Pulmonary Disorders, Self-Care, Immunology & Biotechnology, Endocrine, and Hematology. Dr. McCune has served as a preceptor for the experiential rotation “Study of Medicinal Plants in the Amazon”.
