LEXINGTON, KY. – JILL FERRARI, PROGRAM DIRECTOR OF SULLIVAN UNIVERSITY’S MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM AT THE SCHOOL’S LEXINGTON CAMPUS, HAS BEEN APPOINTED TO THE MEDICAL ASSISTING EDUCATION REVIEW BOARD

SULLIVAN UNIVERSITY’S JILL FERRARI APPOINTED TO MEDICAL ASSISTING EDUCATION REVIEW BOARD

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Jill Ferrari, program director of Sullivan University’s Medical Assistant program at the school’s Lexington campus, has been appointed to the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).

“Being selected to be a part of the board is overwhelmingly rewarding to me personally and professionally,” Ferrari said. “Being appointed to the board is helping me to grow professionally with just an even bigger networking opportunity that can only help me assist students in the healthcare field.

“Both current and future students will benefit because this assignment will allow me to view a variety of schools to see how best to cover the standards in an efficient manner,” she said. “I would like to think my appointment represents strong leadership for our program at the Lexington campus.”

“Ferrari’s appointment further affirms that Sullivan University has a quality program and successful student outcomes,” said Sullivan University Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Diana Lawrence.

“Students can be assured they are receiving a quality education that will provide them a fair chance to reach their career goals,” Dr. Lawrence said. “Jill Ferrari is a great example of what it means to be detailed oriented, hardworking, and scrupulous individual. She manages her department by adhering to strict programmatic accrediting body guidelines, which ensures we have a quality program that meets the desired outcomes. She applies academic rigor to the program and employers appreciate our graduates because they know they are well prepared. By this appointment, MAERB acknowledges her competency as a thorough and consistent evaluator and program director.”

The primary function of the Chicago-based MAERB is to evaluate postsecondary medical assisting programs to ascertain their substantial compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Medical Assisting Programs adopted by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

“Making sure the standards are met with the programmatic accreditation can be tricky, but seeing how other programs incorporate their ideas has been very helpful,” Ferrari said. “Being on the board will allow me more opportunities to see best practices.”

Sullivan University’s Medical Assistant program provides students with the clinical training necessary to perform a variety of medical responsibilities, including preparing patients, performing CPR and first aid, obtaining and analyzing specimen, performing EKG procedures and sterilizing instruments. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to take the Certified Medical Assistant (C.M.A.) examination.
