SULLIVAN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM SPONSORS HOUSEHOLD PRODUCT DRIVE FOR FAMILY SCHOLAR HOUSE

Under the leadership of Director of Alumni Affairs, Hazel Matthews Sullivan, the Sullivan University System (SUS) sponsored a household item drive to benefit Family Scholar House, a Louisville-based nonprofit dedicated to meeting the needs of single parents and their children to empower them to succeed and end the cycle of poverty. The organization provides a number of services, including educational opportunities, family support services and affordable housing.

Faculty, staff and students from across SUS, which includes Sullivan University, Sullivan College of Technology and Design and Spencerian College, together donated more than 2,000 personal hygiene products and household supplies. The Alumni Affairs Office and members of Sullivan University’s grounds crew then delivered a total of 23 boxes and 13 bins of donations to the Louisville campus of Family Scholar House.

“We had the resources at our campuses to work with Family Scholar House and to make this drive happen,” Hazel explained. “Personal hygiene items are always necessary so that’s the route that we went. Our motto throughout Sullivan University is ‘We care,’ and what better way to give to the community and make a difference.”
