CULINARY STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN MAYOR’S INTERNATIONAL GALA / SISTER CITIES EVENT
This is third year that Sullivan University’s National Center for Hospitality Studies (NCHS) has participated in the Annual Mayor’s International Gala – Sister Cities of Louisville. Held at the Muhammad Ali Center, it’s a stellar opportunity to promote Sullivan’s Culinary Arts program and the talent of its students. This event celebrates friendly relations and mutual understanding around the globe.
Louisville’s nine sister cities include:
- Adapazari, Turkey
- La Plata, Argentina
- Montpellier, France
- Jiujiang, China
- Quito, Ecuador
- Tamale, Ghana
- Perm, Russia
- Leeds, England
- Mainz, Germany
Students from NCHS assisted in catering the event for approximately 400-500 guests and created their dishes on-site. Participants learned skills in small plate tasting, work planning, networking, and customer service. The students also celebrated the diversity of Louisville’s sister cities and prepared two versions of a traditional dish, which they researched and selected, for a scholarship competition.
Candice Boulais and Jon Mosely were the first place winners. Representing Leeds, England, their Traditional Shepherd’s Pie earned them each $1,000. They also prepared Chicken Tikka Masala. Congratulations to the winners!
