USA Care Scholarship - 2022 Criteria
Sullivan University - USA Cares Scholarship Purpose:
USA Cares and Sullivan University care deeply about our veterans, their families, and the sacrifices they have made while unselfishly serving their country and their fellow citizens. We also understand how a veteran may require assistance during difficult times. In honor of our military veterans, USA Cares and Sullivan University have joined together to assist those veterans and employees of USA Cares who desire to seek educational opportunities to enhance their professional careers.
As part of those efforts, Sullivan University is offering a scholarship competition for two full tuition-only scholarships. Applicants are limited to USA Cares clients, full-time employees of USA Cares, and the current spouses of each previous group. Eligible individuals committed to and desirous of additional education to enhance their professional careers are encouraged to apply and compete for these scholarships. Two recipients will be selected from the applications submitted.
Scholarship Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet one of the following eligibility categories:
- Registered client of USA Cares
- Full-time Employee of USA Cares
- Current spouse of one of the above
- Deadline: Applicants must complete the online application HERE and submit all requested materials no later than August 14, 2022.
- Required Materials Include:
- Application Form
- Essay of 500 to 1,000 words detailing:
- Why have you chosen this specific academic program?
- What are your long-term goals for your career in this profession?
- What motivates you to succeed in completing the academic program?
Scholarship Criteria:
- The tuition-only scholarships are awarded by Sullivan University and can be utilized only at Sullivan University. The recipient is responsible for all other expenses, i.e., books, fees, room-and-board, etc. if applicable.
- The winning applicant must be available to begin classes either the Fall Quarter 2022 or Winter Quarter 2023.
- The applicant must meet all University and program admissions requirements as stated in the University catalog.
- If the applicant previously attended Sullivan University, she/he must be in good standing and eligible for reentry.
- The applicant may select any undergraduate or graduate program offered by Sullivan University with exclusion to all doctorate level and Physician Assistant programs. Applicants must verify their program of choice is available at Sullivan University by visiting: www.sullivan.edu. Applicants are welcome and encouraged to chat with a university admissions advisor regarding programs of consideration.
- Recipients will not be allowed to change their major of study after their first quarter of attendance.
- The recipient of an undergraduate program scholarship may continue the scholarship up through and including a bachelor’s degree if all other scholarship and enrollment requirements are maintained. Thus, the student may “stair-step” to a higher undergraduate credential if the original credential(s) significantly meets the requirements and transferability of credits to the next higher credential.
- The recipient of an approved graduate level program scholarship may continue the scholarship through the completion of the original program of study if all other scholarship and enrollment requirements continue to be met.
- Attempting/taking classes outside of the chosen major is not permitted. Courses attempted outside of the chosen major will result in corresponding tuition charges to the student. The student is responsible for ensuring all classes attempted meet program requirements.
- To maintain scholarship eligibility the student must:
- Meet and maintain all University policy requirements. This includes but not limited to:
- Admissions requirements,
- Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Attendance, etc.
- Maintain continuous enrollment
- Attempt a minimum of 8 credit hours each quarter unless it’s the student’s final quarter needing less than 8 credit hours for completion.
- The recipient is NOT eligible for other Sullivan University scholarships, grants, or funds. To aid in other education related expenses, if needed, the student is welcome to investigate their eligibility for non-Sullivan financial aid sources.
- The award amount will be presented and based upon the number of credit hours attempted each quarter until the completion of the academic program or the student fails to meet the criteria to maintain the scholarship.
- The scholarship is not retroactive to Sullivan University tuition incurred for periods of previous enrollment or the current academic period if the recipient is presently enrolled.
- The recipient is responsible for the tuition cost of any repeated/retaken courses for any reason.
- The scholarship recipient is NOT eligible to receive residual funds from this scholarship. No cash payout, refund, credit, etc. from these funds will be provided.
- Failure to achieve and/or maintain the required conditions outlined in this agreement will result in scholarship disqualification, and future disbursements of the scholarship will be terminated. However, should the student lose their award due to not achieving the required SAP standards, the student may re-earn eligibility for future quarters by improving her/his SAP to the specified level. The student will be limited to re-earn their scholarship under these circumstances one time. The student must notify the Financial Planning Department in writing if she/he believes they have re-qualified for reinstatement of the scholarship. The student will be responsible for tuition payments during any quarters of scholarship disqualification or non-notification of re-eligibility.
- The student is permitted to submit an appeal for extreme reasons for withdrawal or course failure, i.e., severe illness or injury of self, severe illness, or death of an immediate family member, i.e., parent, spouse, or child. Documentation acceptable to Sullivan University for an appeal will be required. The University will have the sole discretionary authority to accept or reject an appeal.
- The recipient will be required to sign a letter of acknowledgement accepting the terms outlined in the scholarship.
