Lexington Housing Staff

Meet the Staff

Community and Resident Assistants

RAs are a select group of student leaders who have been specifically trained to assist residents in on-campus residential areas. RAs are a crucial link between their residents, the Office of Housing and Residence Life, Student Services professionals, and other campus departments. RAs are leaders who work to ensure student safety in the residential areas, facilitate interaction, plan social and educational events, serve as a resource, and report maintenance issues in the facilities. Resident Assistants serve as mentors to our new students in situations common to the first-year college experience. General issues of adjustment and transition, as well as the more specific areas of community development, roommate relationships, policy enforcement, and intentional relations all fall under the wing of the Resident Assistants. RAs have six primary roles: peer helper, resource/referral agent, educator/programmer, community builder, policy enforcer/explainer, and leader/role model.
