2013 Dean's Letters
Dear Students, Faculty, and Colleagues,
It is with great pride of accomplishment that we welcome Spring back to the Commonwealth, and invite you to share in those accomplishments with us as we look back on them. We also look forward to things to come in 2013.
In January, we celebrated with the Class of 2015 as we held their White Coat Ceremony at the Olmsted. It was an honor and privilege to have our Keynote Address presented by William Ellis, R.Ph., MS. Mr. Ellis is the Executive Director for the Board of Pharmacy Specialties, a position which he has held since January 2011. This event represented the student's initiation into the Practice of Pharmacy, as they received their white consultation coats and recited together the Oath of a Pharmacist.
The Spring Quarter 2013 will bring much activity to SUCOP:
- The Student Government Association is planning our Annual Derby Day celebration.
- Preparations are already underway for the Bluegrass Gala and Graduation for the Class of 2013 - our Third Class of Doctor of Pharmacy Students. The Bluegrass Gala will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at The Olmsted. This event has become something we all look forward to as we celebrate for the final time with our students, faculty, staff and sponsors.
- The Graduation for the Class of 2013 will be held in the main sanctuary of Southeast Christian Church on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 AM. This will be a very solemn occasion as we say goodbye to the students we first welcomed to SUCOP on July 6, 2010. We are very proud of the accomplishments of the Class of 2013, and look forward to hearing great things from them as they enter their careers as Doctors of Pharmacy.
- We look forward to welcoming 110 students to the Class of 2016. The Orientation and Registration for these new students will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, and they will begin their Doctor of Pharmacy education on Monday, July 1, 2013. Each year continues to bring us joy as we see one class graduate and another join us.
And last, but most certainly not least, we are very excited to welcome two accreditation teams to the Sullivan University College of Health Sciences. First, a team from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) will visit the College of Pharmacy on April 2 and 3, 2013, for a Focused Visit following Full Accreditation. We look forward to sharing with them the accomplishments of our Graduating Classes of 2011 and 2012, as well as the hard work that we continue to undertake here on a daily basis. Second, we will welcome a team from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) on April 25 and 26, 2013, as we prepare for the launch of our Physician Assistant Program.
I would like to send my most sincere Thank You for all your continued support of SUCOP, our students, and our mission. We welcome you on our journey with us as we send off one class, welcome another, and continue to provide outstanding service to students and employees of Sullivan University as well as the residents of the Louisville Metro area.
With Warm Regards,
Hieu T. Tran, Pharm.D.
