SULLIVAN UNIVERSITY DIRECTOR, GRADUATE NAMED TO BUSINESS FIRST LOUISVILLE FORTY UNDER 40 LIST OF YOUNG LEADERS

LOUISVILLE, KY – Beth Davisson, the Sullivan University director of Career Services for Health and Medical Services and a Sullivan University graduate, has been named by Business First Louisville to the 2016 Forty Under 40 list of young professionals and leaders in the community.

Davisson, who joined Sullivan University in 2010, is also the current president of the Louisville Society for Human Resource Management (LSHRM) and in 2014 was named to the inaugural class of the “Top 20 People to Know in Human Resources” by Business First.

“The smart and talented young professionals who compose our 2016 Forty Under 40 are making important contributions in our business community,” Business First wrote in a story announcing the winners. “They represent doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, bankers, professors, artists and nearly every field in between.”

Davisson joined others named to the list for a Sept. 23 reception and banquet at the Marriott East in Louisville. She is also featured in the current weekly edition of Business First.

“I am honored to receive the Business First Louisville Forty Under 40 recognition and thrilled to be in such great company with the other 39 Louisville young leaders,” Davisson said. “Receiving this award confirms that I am on the right path of serving the community in a meaningful and needed way.

“In my role at Sullivan University, it is my job to ensure that I understand the needs of the workforce and that SU graduates are gainfully employed in their fields of study,” Davisson said. “To me, this award speaks to the quality to which I, and all the members of the Sullivan University System, accomplish this goal because we provide education and a career path that is in demand by the workforce.”

Davisson earned her baccalaureate degree in Integrated Strategic Communications from The University of Kentucky and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Sullivan University. She is also a graduate of Sullivan University System’s Center for Leadership Development program.

Prior to joining Sullivan University, Davisson held positions at The Oliver Group, a business management consulting firm in Louisville, and Greater Louisville Inc. (GLI) – The Metro Chamber Commerce.

In 2016, Davisson led LSHRM in developing and administering a localized Talent Alignment Research Initiative to help the HR profession identify and understand talent gaps in Greater Louisville. More than 250 businesses participated in the survey, which found that 82 percent of human resource leaders expect their businesses to grow in the next three to five years but virtually the same amount indicated they can’t find the talent they need today.

“These are exciting but alarming statistics,” Davisson said. “We are heading towards a strong economic climate in Louisville and things are looking bright, but how can we achieve this projected growth without the educated workforce needed?

“I am proud to serve a University that fuels the workforce while compassionately encouraging economic prosperity one student at a time,” she said.

Davisson serves on the Education Committee for the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board; is a member of the Jefferson County Public Schools Adult Education Advocacy Committee; and was selected as a Beta Trainee for the Metro Louisville Compassionate City Leadership Training program.
