Scholarships Abound for Sullivan Students
Three students in the Hotel/Restaurant Management degree program were honored this year with scholarships from national and international organizations.
SKAL International – Louisville recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Tera McDaniel at their monthly dinner. McDaniel works as the Hotel/Restaurant Management tutor at Sullivan University’s main campus in Louisville. SKAL members include many of the general managers from hotels and hospitality-related businesses around the world. “Tera is driven, enthusiastic, hardworking, and has long term goals to enter the district management level of Hotel Management,” said Associate Professor Dawn McGiffen.
The American Hotel & Lodging Association awarded $1,500 scholarships to Sade O’Conner and Katie Hall. Both O’Connor and Hall were also honored in May by the National Restaurant Association as “Salute to Excellence” students.
It is gratifying to me, as a member of the Hotel-
Restaurant Management faculty, to see Sade O’Connor and Katie Hall be awarded these prestigious scholarships,” said Associate Professor Anne Sandhu. “I am extremely proud of their accomplishment and confident that their hospitality education in our Hotel-Restaurant Management program has positioned them for success in our industry.” McDaniel and Hall have already finished their studies for their associate degree Hotel/Restaurant Management and are continuing their education in the Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management program.
“We are so proud of our students,” said Professor Albert Schmid, Chair of the Hotel/Restaurant Management, Beverage Management, and Hospitality Management degree programs. “They have studied hard and deserve these scholarships.”
