More than 1,000 Alumni Attend Celebration

Sullivan University’s first Alumni Weekend brought together generations of graduates who have stepped through the doors of education that the Sullivan family opened nearly 50 years ago.
More than a 1,000 graduates and guests gathered to get a glimpse of the future while they reminisced about the past. Lucky alumni walked away with more than $10,000 worth of giveaways given out throughout the weekend.
Friday night featured a red carpet welcome for graduates and their guests. After registration and pausing for a free commemorative photo, they enjoyed passed hors d’ouvres and a walk through Sullivan history in the a’la carte cafe where campus, class, and activity photos were accompanied by artifacts and memorabilia including some from the Sullivan ‘Executives’ championship basketball seasons.
Shuttles were available for those wishing to tour the new-to-most Bakery on Sullivan’s West Campus and Sullivan’s College of Pharmacy.
Lounges were set up in rooms for mingling and enjoying delightful small-bite tasting tours prepared by culinary students in the labs.
Saturday featured another first, free museum tours. The Alumni Affairs Office worked with the Museum Row on Main Street group to provide free tours of some downtown gems. Many took advantage of the opportunity, most for the first time, to tour the Muhammad Ali, Slugger, Frazier and other museums in the group.
The evening Gala Dinner took place at the new Gardiner Point Residence Hall. It took a creative use of space to try to accommodate all those who signed up to attend. Julep’s Catering and an army of student and staff volunteers prepared and delivered an extraordinarily memorable culinary experience . . . just ask anyone about the Sea Bass and you will see what we mean.
The great news for those that missed it is that more events are on the way including some very special events already being planned to celebrate the 50th Anniversary in 2012. If you have ideas or experiences to share with the Alumni Affairs Office please visit our website and contact us.
