Dr. John Simmons

PROFESSOR

Dr. Simmons is originally from San Francisco, California, and now resides in Southern California where he works as an educator for a large school district. He has been recognized in person by First Lady Bush, two governors, and two state senators as well as a host of other political figures for excellence in education. His education focus is school-to-career transition management of high school students.

Dr. Simmons joined the navy at age seventeen as an enlisted man and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. Before retiring from the navy, Dr. Simmons managed education and training programs over a five-state region in addition to his warfare duties. Dr. Simmons also served in an elite airborne unit for six years earning his navy gold jump wings.

Dr. Simmons' advanced degrees include a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Development, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management. In addition Dr. Simmons completed a certificate in Human Resource Studies from Cornell's Industrial Labor Relations School.

Dr. Simmons and his wife Amy have three adult professional children. He is an aviation enthusiast and holds a commercial pilot's license.
