Dr. Wendy Achilles, PhD

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Achilles earned her PhD in accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University. She currently resides in eastern North Carolina with her husband and children. She is a licensed CPA in NC, and began her career in public accounting as an auditor for about a year and quickly realized that she preferred taxation. She transitioned to the tax department where she spent several years in corporate taxation. She then took a position as a tax manager for a multinational corporation located in eastern NC where she performed duties such as tax compliance, international tax research, and SEC reporting. Although the corporation was multinational, the corporate office was quite small so Dr. Achilles gained experience in taxation, financial reporting, and a limited amount of experience in project management. She left industry in 1999 to pursue a career in academics, and she teaches at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Her research interests include behavioral issues in taxation and accounting education.
